According to information recently released by Better Health Publishing, a new animal study confirms the dramatic effects of a natural formula against aggressive prostate cancer tumors (hormone refractory prostate cancer). Researchers at the Methodist Research Institute at Indiana University conducted the study on mice.
The formula used in the study consisted of botanical extracts, phytonutrients, botanically enhanced medicinal mushrooms, and antioxidants. While the announcement didn’t specify the exact formula, phytonutrients and antioxidants are widely available as dietary supplements and so are medicinal mushrooms, either as single mushroom supplements or mushroom mixes, combining several medicinal mushrooms such as Reishi, Agaricus Blazei Murill, Cordycepts, Shiitake, Maitake and Cloud Mushrooms, into a single product.
Results of the study demonstrated that the oral administration of these ingredients produced a statistically significant suppression of tumor growth, compared to controls. The study was performed by using human prostate cancer cells in mice.
In addition to a remarkable reduction in tumor size, the formula also inhibited a number of genes involved in cancer proliferation and metastasis. Other laboratories have recently done cell culture based research on the same formula. Those studies demonstrated similar results as the new animal study.
